Seats
Most 3 wheel double buggies start as single pushchairs. However, some models can be modified to accept a second seat with adapters. Certain models let you add an extra board for older kids who are ready to walk but require a little help.
For a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and has a large basket with lots of storage. It can accommodate twins starting at birth and accepts two car seats or a carrycot that has a seat. However, the seats need to be facing forwards, and there's no room to store a bag of groceries underneath and you'll need a sidepack to do that.
If you're looking to take off-road trips, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great choice. It's a side by side with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. It's much easier to get through narrow doors as well as on public transport. It is also able to climb up and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar has an integrated handbrake to increase security and safety.
Another lightweight choice is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double, which can be used to accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats have multi-position reclining and UPF 50+ sunshades, and the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun from your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack" board, which is designed for older children.
The iCandy Orange is one of the most sought-after double buggies that are available, thanks to its superb comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension that makes light work of bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating configurations as well as a built-in table for older children who like to walk, and a 'cinema mode that raises the back seats to provide better visibility.
Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a fantastic single buggy from the beginning that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3!) different configurations. This is especially useful for parents who have children in your car. The frame can be fitted to a wedgie, which permits the best lie-flat position. Car seat adapters that fit various brands.
Suspension
The quality of the suspension on a 3-wheel double buggy is essential to how easy it will be for you and your baby to push. It is important to have a smooth ride, as babies can feel every bump in the road. This is particularly true if you are driving on rough terrain like grass or unpaved roads. Some models also come with front wheels that lock to assist with maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.
Certain models have air-filled tyres, which give you a great all-terrain adventure, but they could be susceptible to punctures, so ensure you have a spare set in the trunk. Other models use gel or foam tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and are less prone to punctures, but you might find them a little stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her infant and three years old son, and found it performed admirably on difficult terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles easily and was able to manoeuvre around corners and get up and down kerbs. It's also very enjoyable to jog, with the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheel giving you a stable jogging experience." Folding
A three-wheel double buggy could be folded up neatly to be stored. You can find options that fold flat and then stand up (as when they're in a pushchair position) as well as ones that pop out to reveal more of an umbrella-style fold, with an electric brake. In general the more wheels a buggy comes with the more comfortable it will be to navigate over rough terrain. This is particularly applicable if the wheels are larger than average. 3 wheel pushchair will provide you with more stability and reduce the chance that your child are likely to tip over or fall over.

Another alternative is the phil&teds sports that is a future-proof model as it's brilliant as a single buggy from day one and then adjusts to accommodate 2 (or even three!) in its small footprint. It features a clever three-wheel design with a sling for better manoeuvrability and stability.
This is one of the best double buggies for jogging with your kids. It comes with an adjustable front wheel that locks, that will allow you to keep your balance on hilly or off-road terrain. It also has a generously-sized undercarriage basket, a movable handlebar, and a soft suspension for comfortable riding.

It's on the expensive side, but it does have some distinctive features that make it a great price, including its easy one-click fold and lots of extras, such as a bumper bar and raincover.
Stores
One thing that a lot of people appreciate about a great 3 wheel double buggy is the storage capacity. Some models like the Roma Atlas offer a generously-sized basket, as well as two zip pockets on the hood to keep your keys and phone in reach. It's also designed to deal with slightly rough terrain so it's a great option for family walks or all-terrain walks.
Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2 offer plenty of space and flexibility to accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby (it utilizes their 'PiggyBack' board to enable this). It's the smallest side-by-side double available and comes with some impressive tech including games-changing LED lights on each side of the frame to improve safety in dim lighting conditions.

The clever frame can expand to allow for an additional seat, but still weighs only 11kg. This makes it simple to lift and maneuver. It can be used with a car seat, carrycot or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
